Happy New Year!  We’re excited to announce that during 2026, Links Bridge will be hosting eleven new exhibits by area artists.  Most of the exhibits are here for about a month.  Almost all of the artists will be here sometime during their exhibits to talk with customers and visitors.  And some plan to demonstrate their painting techniques (Tom Ritchie and Lissa Abrams (plein air) on July 4 and Mary Moores (pastels) on November 7).

We provide a schedule below that lists artists, dates, and times, and tells you a bit about each exhibit.  We hope you’ll come by to enjoy the exhibits, or better yet, to enjoy chatting with the artists over a glass of wine!

Impressions of Maryland:  Paintings by Tom Ritchie and Lissa Abrams, July 4-26

In this exhibit, Ritchie and Abrams, both accomplished plein air painters, present their “Impressions of Maryland” through landscapes, still-life, and views of people engaged in daily activities.  Both paint in an impressionistic style using oils and occasionally gouache or watercolor.  Each medium presents various challenges and pleasures as they seek to capture the landscape in bold colors and rich textures.

Note:  Both artists will be here for a plein air painting demonstration on July 4, 1-3 pm.  Additionally, there will be a reception for the artists on July 11, 2-4 pm.

Obsessed:  Ink Drawings by Jim Haller
Aug 1-30

This exhibit of work by Jim Haller, an art educator, features beautiful, bigger-than-life renditions of old medicine bottles.  In college, Haller was diagnosed with Crohn’s Disease, leading to an obsession with old medications and remedies.  In 2016, he started collecting vintage and antique medicine bottles and pill tins.  Later, he began using this collection as the subject of his work, lighting, photographing, and then meticulously drawing each bottle.  Working in pen and ink, he uses a stippling technique to create texture and depth, describing this painstaking procedure as meditative and therepeutic.

Impressionistic Landscapes
Paintings by Bryan Jernigan
Sept 5-27

Bryan Jernigan is a well-known professional artist and acclaimed teacher.  Last year we were excited to exhibit a series of his striking abstract paintings (look here for an example).  This year we are enthusiastically following up with a collection of  pastel-on-paper “Impressionistic Landscapes” that (in our opinion) combine the artist’s love of the abstract with a keen talent for the representational.

Reception for the artist: Sunday Sept 6, 1-3 pm.

Kitchen Art:  Where Folks Gather
Paintings by Pauline Rakis and Galina Kolosovskaya
Oct 3 – Nov 1

Pauline Rakis and Galina Kolosovskaya are two Maryland artists with distinctively different painting styles.  However, they have a similar perspective on Kitchen Art.  The kitchen, always a place to gather, eat, and socialize, reflects a family’s character and identity.  The preparation and cooking of meals is one of the great creative rituals that  binds families and friends with rich memories.  Yet the kitchen may be the most ignored room in the house when it comes to filling the walls with paintings!  This exhibit is all about providing the inspiration to get people to expand their creativity beyond cooking by embracing kitchen art.

Reception for the artists:  TBD

There are Places I’ll Remember All My Life
Paintings by Mary Moores
Nov 7-29

Take a moment from your busy world of appointments and to-do lists and visit the places Mary Moores has been “in her life.”  This exhibit captures not just places she has visited, but also very powerfully the emotions she felt while being there.  Her colors and contrasting spaces convey the temperature, the sounds, and the feel of the moment.  She clearly wants viewers to pause in order to notice the beauty embedded in daily living that presents itself in both landscapes and common urban spaces. She reminds the viewer to take time occasionally to live in the present and be delighted by the world around us.

Reception for the artist:  Saturday Nov 7, 1-3 pm.

The Birds–Large and Small
Scuiptures by Dale Buffington and Ellen Frazier
Dec 5-13

These two artists approach the subject of birds very differently, but for both the results are gorgeous.  Buffington’s life-like and  life-sized birds are hand-carved and painstakingly hand-painted to represent the artist’s favorite waterfowl.  Each is a unique piece of collectable art, and he has won numerous carving competitions throughout the country.  Frazier repurposes old piano hammers and keys to create giant bald eagle sculptures in full flight.  They are amazing creations that  can transform an ordinary wall space into a stunning statement.  You won’t want to miss this exhibit!

Reception for the artists: TBD
