Hello all,
We have two new things to tell you about! First, the Pumpkin Patch at Brookfield Pumpkins, just down the road from us, is about to open up for its 2026 season. Second, on October 3 we will launch a new exhibit of paintings by Pauline Rakis and Galina Kolosovskaya, “Kitchen Art: Where Folks Gather.” Here are some details:
A Real Fall Highlight: Brookfield Farms Pumpkin Patch!
One of the great things that happens in our neighborhood at this time of year: Brookfield Pumpkins opens to the public for a fall celebration!
Created by Sam and Mary Jane Roop and their three children in 1996, the Brookfield Farms Pumpkin Patch has been in operation every fall since then. Last year, following Farmer Sam’s retirement, Kelsey and Dan Maslen and their three children continue the tradition as the new owners of Brookfield Pumpkins.
Brookfield offers hayrides to their 15 acre Pumpkin Patch (where you can pick your own pumpkin), a corn maze (whose proceeds are donated to charities), a farm animal petting zoo, and
other activities to entertain your children. It’s a great experience and an opportunity to take home the perfect pumpkin for Halloween! And we know you’ll like seeing the farm itself, which always makes us feel like we’re walking around in a carefully tended garden.
We hope you’ll visit Brookfield Pumpkins to enjoy a special family adventure that has become a tradition in our area.

Pauline Rakis and Galina Kolosovskaya are two Maryland artists with distinctively different painting styles. However, they have a similar perspective on Kitchen Art. The kitchen, always a place to gather, eat, and socialize, reflects a family’s character and identity. The preparation and cooking of meals is one of the great creative rituals that binds families and friends with rich memories. Yet the kitchen may be the most ignored room in the house when it comes to filling the walls with paintings! This exhibit is all about providing the inspiration to get people to expand their creativity beyond cooking by embracing kitchen art.
Reception for the artists: Sunday October 11, 1-3 pm
