Farms and Fields, An Artists View
Paintings by Deborah Lovelace Richardson
July 27 – Aug 11 at Links Bridge Vineyards
Frederick County, with its farmland and rolling hills, offers up many beautiful vistas that are always an artistic inspiration. Farms and Fields, a collection of (mostly) Frederick County landscapes painted on location by Deborah Lovelace Richardson, will be on display in the Links Bridge tasting room from July 27-August 11. The artist will hold a reception at the tasting on July 28, 1-3pm, for those who would like to meet her.
Richardson received a BFA in painting from the Maryland Institute College of Art in Baltimore. She has always preferred to paint outdoors in a small format that can be completed in one or two three-hour sessions. She places down oil paint, analyzing one color as it relates to the one next to it. Each stroke of paint is put down as accurately as possible the first time, so little correction has to be made. This technique creates a rich surface with the emphasis on the stroke of the brush and the application of the paint to the surface, giving her work a very painterly quality.
Richardson paints weekly with Frederick’s enthusiastic plein air community and participates in several local plein air events each year. She has received numerous awards over the years and was honored to have her work featured in the Maryland Public Television special, “Historic Barns of Maryland.”
She is a member of the Frederick Plein Air Artists, and a life member of the Delaplaine Visual Arts
Center, Frederick County Art Association, and the Frederick County Landmarks Foundation.
Deborah’s work can be viewed at Gallery 322 in downtown Frederick, MD and at the studio/gallery she shares with her husband artist Harry Richardson near New Market, MD.
