Fall is a Time for Things on Vines!

September 28, 2018 / News

Two great things happen at this time of year: we start turning our grapes into wine, and our neighbors, Sam and Mary Jane Roop, open Brookfield Farm to the public for a fall celebration.

Brookfield offers hayrides to their 15 acre Pumpkin Patch (where you can pick your own pumpkin), a corn maze, a farm animal petting zoo, and other activities to entertain your children. It’s a great experience and an opportunity to purchase the perfect pumpkin for Halloween!  So on your way to Links Bridge Vineyards, stop up the road and enjoy a special family adventure that has become a tradition in our area.

You’ll find Brookfield Farm at 8302 Ramsburg Rd, Thurmont, MD 21788.  The Pumpkin Patch is open Sept 29 through Oct 31.  Mon-Thurs 3pm-6pm.  Fri-Sun 10am-6pm.  Visit www.BrookfieldPumpkins.com for more information.

Links Bridge Vineyards Hosts Paintings by Melissa Carr

Hello all

From August 11 through August 26, we will host a colorful selection of abstract paintings by Frederick County artist Melissa Carr.  Melissa specializes in illustration, graphic design, and painting.  She earned a degree in graphic design at the Art Institute of Pittsburg and is working on a Masters in Education at Mount St. Mary’s University.  This is leading to a fourth specialization–encouraging the creativity of children and introducing them to the world of art.

We hope you’ll come on by for a look at Melissa’s paintings and enjoy a glass of wine at the same time!  You’re also invited to meet Melissa at a reception on Friday evening August 17th, 6-8pm.

Best wishes,
Bob & Joan

We’ll be hosting an important family party that day and we apologize in advance for not being able to be open for everyone else at the same time.

Wine by the Water!

On Saturday June 30 we will be introducing two new wines on our patio overlooking the Monocacy River.  Come on by for a complimentary tasting of our 2017 Albariño and 2016 Cabernet Franc.  Both will also be available by the glass or bottle. Bring a picnic and a friend!

(Please note:  on Saturday our tasting room will also be open as usual from 11 am to 6 pm,  where we’ll be serving our seven original wines.)

Art & Wine!

Saturday June 30 thru July 15 local artist Sarah Fitzsimmons will display a number of her wood sculptures at out tasting room. Through these sculptures she creates representations of her own relationship with nature and hopes to inspire others to connect with nature and themselves. We hope you will enjoy these unique pieces while they are on display.

We’ve Been Bottling!

May 3, 2018 / News

We’ve just bottled seven new wines, and we’re pretty excited about the results!  We’ll be introducing these wines later this summer and will tell you more about them then, but here’s the list:

  •  2016 Monocacy Blend (a merlot/cab franc blend)
  • 2016 Cab Franc Bin 7
  • 2016 Cab Franc Bin 10
  • 2017 Riverside Chardonnay
  • 2017 Hillside Chardonnay
  • 2017 Albariño
  • 2017 Vidal Blanc.

We’d like to thank Ernie Yoder and St. Michael’s Corkers for two successful bottling days, one here at Links Bridge Vineyards (2017 whites) and another over at Maryland Wine Cellars (2016 reds).  Thanks also to our own bottling team, including Cody Allbright, James (Rudy) Martin, and Celine Rosenwald, and to the folks at Maryland Wine Cellars.

As always, we look forward to seeing you here at Links Bridge Vineyards!
