Paintings by Helene Ruiz

October 24, 2023 / News

Hello All,

A collection of paintings by Helene Ruiz entitled “Exploring the Harmonies of Urban Life and Sunflower Melodies”  will be on display here in our tasting room from October  28-November 12. The exhibit is open to the public from 11 am to 6 pm on weekends and other days by appointment.

Ruiz is known for her intriguing urban landscapes, a body of work that might be described as surreal, but which portrays  the reality of her affection for life in a complex, multicultural, urban setting.  She celebrates the art, music and beauty of the city scene with wide angled perspective, and to see these paintings is to share her enjoyment.

Much of Ruiz’s work has been produced in New York City, where she organized the Urban Individualists, an artist’s collective.  Today she works from her home in Virginia.   She has  exhibited her paintings in numerous shows both nationally and internationally.  Over the years she has received numerous grants and awards in recognition of her contributions to the arts.

We hope you’ll come by for a look at these pictures and a glass of wine!

Cheers,
Joan & Bob

As a part of our continued “Wine and Art series”, Links Bridge Vineyards is hosting an exhibit of oil and acrylic paintings by local Frederick artists.  The exhibit, entitled “From the Hand of the Artist,” features paintings by five women who often work together for mutual inspiration, sharing the pleasure that creating art provides.   The five are Sandra Cook, Pam Herrick, Ann Lundahl, Robin Seidel, and Stephanie Torres.

This weekend at Links Bridge Vineyards

Hello all,
We wanted to let you know that this weekend, September 9-10, our neighbor and master craftsman Roger Crist will be exhibiting his latest wine barrel-inspired furniture and furnishings here. Many of you have seen Roger’s work before, but he always has something new and intriguing to show us!

But wait…there’s more!  This weekend Roger’s brother Steve Crist will be here too.  Steve, a homebuilder from Raleigh NC and also a master woodworker, uses lathe and bandsaw to sculpt bowls, candlesticks, animals, and other small but elegant objects from spalted oak and maple.  He’ll have these on display and we think you’ll enjoy them.

Sunset Over the Hill

Finally, this will be the last weekend to see our current exhibit of landscape and still-life pictures by Pauline Rakis.  You won’t want to miss these!

Cheers,
Joan & Bob

Open on Labor Day!

We’ll be open on Labor Day (Monday September 4) from noon till 6pm.  We’ll be updating our tasting menu on that day, so we hope you’ll come by to try some wine!  We’ll have charcuterie boards in case you’re hungry, but we also encourage you to bring a picnic of your own.

Into The Woods

For your viewing pleasure, we’ll also have a new exhibit (September 2-10) by returning artist Pauline Rakis.  Pauline’s exhibit of floral paintings made a springtime splash here back in May.  Her  new collection of dreamy landscape and still-life paintings celebrates the end of summer and beginning of fall.  For more information about Pauline and her work, look here at our previous post, and also on her website.

Cheers!
Bob & Joan

Nature and Structure: Paintings by Russ Mardon

© Russ Mardon

This weekend and next (Jun2 24-July 2), we’ll be hosting an exhibit of paintings by Russ Mardon entitled “Nature and Structure.”  These paintings in oil and acrylic focus on the interplay between built structures and the natural environment.  The lines and angles of roads, bridges, buildings, etc use a different visual language than the curves, waves, and fractals found in nature.  This contrast guides the design process, and the paintings draw the viewer in by humanizing the scale of the landscape.  We might add that they light up our tasting room with glowing color!

Russ lives and works in Falls Church, Virginia, and has exhibited his work at many different galleries in Virginia and Maryland.  For examples of his work visit his website.

Y’all come!
