With her father working for the U.S. Navy, Barker-Barzel spent most of her “growing up years” traveling the world, and her work reflects her early exposure to Europe and parts of Asia. At an early stage in her development as an artist, she became “addicted to all forms of print-making.” She completed her Post-Baccalaureate in Fine Art from the Maryland Institute College of Art (MICA) in 2014. While attending MICA, she was a Graduate Teaching Assistant for Eva Wylie in printmaking. She was selected as a member of Printmakers Inc. in 2016 and was juried into the Torpedo Factory Artist’s Association in 2017.
Barker-Barzel discusses her influences and aspirations, and shows you a fascinating selection of her prints in this You-Tube video.

Big News at Links Bridge!
Dear all,
Many if not most of you who have visited here have met and chatted with Suzanne Keller, our Tasting Room Manager.
You know what a great person she is and what a great job she does.
You may even know that in her spare time she is a dedicated teacher with lots of experience in both elementary and middle schools in Frederick and Montgomery counties.
What you may not know, however, is that she has worked hard for several years on earning a Ph.D. in Education. And that today, she completed her degree work by successfully defending her dissertation.
We are very proud of her, and wonder what DR. KELLER will do next to amaze one and all. Should you be at Links Bridge this Saturday (or anytime, really), be sure to congratulate her on this impressive achievement!
Regards,
Bob & Joan

Hello All,
A collection of paintings by Helene Ruiz entitled “Exploring the Harmonies of Urban Life and Sunflower Melodies” will be on display here in our tasting room from October 28-November 12. The exhibit is open to the public from 11 am to 6 pm on weekends and other days by appointment.
Ruiz is known for her intriguing urban landscapes, a body of work that might be described as surreal, but which portrays the reality of her affection for life in a complex, multicultural, urban setting. She celebrates the art, music and beauty of the city scene with wide angled perspective, and to see these paintings is to share her enjoyment.

Much of Ruiz’s work has been produced in New York City, where she organized the Urban Individualists, an artist’s collective. Today she works from her home in Virginia. She has exhibited her paintings in numerous shows both nationally and internationally. Over the years she has received numerous grants and awards in recognition of her contributions to the arts.
We hope you’ll come by for a look at these pictures and a glass of wine!
Cheers,
Joan & Bob

This weekend at Links Bridge Vineyards
Hello all,
We wanted to let you know that this weekend, September 9-10, our neighbor and master craftsman Roger Crist will be exhibiting his latest wine barrel-inspired furniture and furnishings here. Many of you have seen Roger’s work before, but he always has something new and intriguing to show us!
But wait…there’s more! This weekend Roger’s brother Steve Crist will be here too. Steve, a homebuilder from Raleigh NC and also a master woodworker, uses lathe and bandsaw to sculpt bowls, candlesticks, animals, and other small but elegant objects from spalted oak and maple. He’ll have these on display and we think you’ll enjoy them.
Finally, this will be the last weekend to see our current exhibit of landscape and still-life pictures by Pauline Rakis. You won’t want to miss these!
Cheers,
Joan & Bob
