Pastels by Laurie Basham

From Saturday May 25 through Saturday June 15 we will be exhibiting artwork by Maryland pastel artist Laurie Basham. Laurie is an accomplished plein air painter whose work delights the eye by capturing both the beauty and the mood of her subjects.  Her work includes portraits, still-lives, and rural Maryland landscapes.  Some pieces in the exhibit are from private collections and some will be available for purchase.  All are worth seeing!

A native of Rockville, Maryland, Laurie received her Degree in Art Education from the University of Maryland in 1985 and has since been an art instructor in Howard County, Maryland.  Over the years, she has participated in many workshops conducted by well-known artists such as Mark Coates, Desiree Holmes-Scherini, David Diaz, and renowned pastel artist, Margaret Dyer.  Her work has been displayed in many places around the Baltimore/D.C. area, and has been featured in two solo shows and in many invitational and juried exhibits. She is a signature member of the Maryland Pastel Society, where she serves as the events chairperson, and is also a member of the Mid-Atlantic Plein Air Painters Association.

On the exhibit’s final evening (Saturday June 15, 5 pm to 8 pm), we will hold a public reception for Laurie in our tasting room.  Don’t miss this opportunity to visit with her, learn more about her approach and style, purchase a masterpiece for yourself, or otherwise just enjoy these gorgeous images.  (And of course, drink a little Links Bridge Vineyards wine!)
