The Frederick Plein Air Artists group was formed out of a shared desire to paint outdoors on a regular basis, in a safe environment and at inspirational locations. They paint each Wednesday, weather permitting, through November, and start up again in the spring. It is the magic of the experience, of capturing the mood, color, and light of a scene “as it happens,” that brings these artists together. The Links Bridge exhibit includes paintings by James Bricker, Margaret Huddy, Rebecca Jackson, Jane Knighton, Elayne Rogge, Paula Rubin-Wexler, Ann Schaefer, Bonny Sydnor, Peggy Thompson, and Debbie Turcotte.
As a special feature of this exhibit, the Frederick Plein Air Artists will be on hand at the tasting room on Sunday May 5 from 1-5 pm to greet and talk with visitors. This is a great opportunity to view a unique collection of 37 paintings and to meet the accomplished artists who painted them. Complimentary hors d’oeuvres will be served, and wine will (as always) be available for purchase.
We hope you’ll come by!
Cheers,
Joan and Bob

Landscape Paintings by Marlene Sapperstein
Hello all,
From April 6-21, Links Bridge Vineyards will host “Three States Impressions,” an exhibit of landscape paintings by Maryland artist Marlene Sapperstein.

Bright Day © Marlene Sapperstein
“Three States Impressions” showcases a variety of landscapes painted from the artist’s photos on site in three different states. Marlene captures characteristic and unique natural features
of Maryland, her home, Florida, her second home, and Virginia. The exhibit invites viewers
to understand and share her enthusiasm and passion for our natural environment.
Born and raised in Baltimore, Marlene satisfied the left side of her brain by becoming a CPA and commercial real estate appraiser, while indulging the right side by becoming an accomplished painter of landscapes and waterscapes. She has participated in and exhibited with local art organizations: Strathmore, Montgomery Art Association, City of Gaithersburg and Rockville Art League.
We think you’ll like these paintings. Take a look at Marlene’s website for further samples of her work.
Cheers,
Joan and Bob

With her father working for the U.S. Navy, Barker-Barzel spent most of her “growing up years” traveling the world, and her work reflects her early exposure to Europe and parts of Asia. At an early stage in her development as an artist, she became “addicted to all forms of print-making.” She completed her Post-Baccalaureate in Fine Art from the Maryland Institute College of Art (MICA) in 2014. While attending MICA, she was a Graduate Teaching Assistant for Eva Wylie in printmaking. She was selected as a member of Printmakers Inc. in 2016 and was juried into the Torpedo Factory Artist’s Association in 2017.
Barker-Barzel discusses her influences and aspirations, and shows you a fascinating selection of her prints in this You-Tube video.

Big News at Links Bridge!
Dear all,
Many if not most of you who have visited here have met and chatted with Suzanne Keller, our Tasting Room Manager.
You know what a great person she is and what a great job she does.
You may even know that in her spare time she is a dedicated teacher with lots of experience in both elementary and middle schools in Frederick and Montgomery counties.
What you may not know, however, is that she has worked hard for several years on earning a Ph.D. in Education. And that today, she completed her degree work by successfully defending her dissertation.
We are very proud of her, and wonder what DR. KELLER will do next to amaze one and all. Should you be at Links Bridge this Saturday (or anytime, really), be sure to congratulate her on this impressive achievement!
Regards,
Bob & Joan

Ruiz is known for her intriguing urban landscapes, a body of work that might be described as surreal, but which portrays the reality of her affection for life in a complex, multicultural, urban setting.
